I've got a big patch of land around the house with a lawn, garden paths, and a section I've been meaning to turn into a proper lounge area for ages but never got round to it. Decided it's finally time to sort it out. Would be nice to just sit outside sometimes, have a think, or invite mates over for a barbecue and play board games out in the open instead of being stuck inside the living room like we usually do. What kind of furniture should I be looking at in the UK for something like this?
What outdoor furniture to get for a lounge area ?
Outdoor spaces get wasted when you don't actually set them up for use, they just sit there looking empty while you're indoors wishing you had somewhere decent to relax outside. British weather's unpredictable though, sunny one day and pissing down the next, so whatever you get needs to handle moisture without falling apart. All-season furniture made from aluminium holds up well, doesn't rust or warp when it gets wet. Light enough to move around if you need to rearrange but sturdy enough that wind won't knock it over during a storm. |
Aluminium sounds practical but you still need something comfortable, not just functional pieces that look like they belong at a bus stop. Sets with proper cushioning make a difference when you're actually spending time out there instead of sitting for five minutes and going back inside. You can check out lounge sets with sofas, armchairs, and tables here: https://rengard.co.uk/product-category/outdoor-sofa-sets/lounge-sofa-sets/ . They've got proper outdoor furniture designed for UK weather that doesn't look like cheap patio junk. Whole setup stays usable year-round and gives you an actual space to hang out instead of just decorative furniture nobody touches. |
