Need sturdier garden chairs than what we've got

My wife's been on at me for months now about the chairs round our outdoor dining table, and honestly she's got a point, the wooden ones we've got are looking properly worn and creak like they're about to give way any minute. Reckon it's time to sort something out before one of them actually collapses under someone at a barbecue. What holds up better than wood long term, and where's decent to have a look in the UK?

Wood looks lovely when it's new but it really doesn't cope well with British weather, the constant wet and dry cycles are what causes all that cracking and warping over time. Rattan or resin weave tends to hold up a lot better outdoors since it doesn't absorb moisture the same way, and metal frames with powder coating are a solid choice too if you don't mind something a bit heavier. Whatever you go for, it's worth checking if the cushions or seat pads are removable and washable, since that saves a lot of hassle once autumn rolls round.

Mate, the only wooden furniture you can leave outside is teak. Everything else wears out and falls apart fast. You'd either need to varnish it every year, or keep it indoors and only drag it out when you fancy sitting in the garden. Teak or aluminium chairs are just better for being left outdoors.
